After spending the last six years in Christian Dior’s design studio, 34-year-old British knitwear specialist Adam Jones has struck out on his own with a lush, sophisticated knitwear collection. “It’s sexy, glamorous and chic with a bit of rock ‘n’ roll,” explains Jones of the clothes he’ll unveil on Thursday in a presentation, from one to seven p.m., in an apartment overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Jones, seductively mixing mohair, cashmere, lace and chiffon, whips up some of the freshest pieces seen this season from a young designer. Combining such diverse elements could be the ingredients for disaster, but Jones’s mohair sweaters knit into thick cables and intertwined with delicate chiffon panels hit the right balance. In a corset dress the chiffon is ruched, and some cashmere sweaters have pearl-like beads woven into the collar.
