WILLIAMS TO AUTHENTIC

NEW YORK — A Warnaco alumnus has returned to the fold.
According to reports, Roger Williams, former chief financial officer at The Warnaco Group, has rejoined its Authentic Fitness unit as chief operating officer.
Williams was AF’s executive vice president of operations and cfo in 1992, when he left the firm following its initial public offering. He served successively as executive vice president and cfo of Donna Karan Inc. and Guess between 1992 and 1997. He has since served as a consultant to firms in and out of the apparel business, and has been working at Los Angeles-based Authentic in the past several months. As chief operating officer of the unit, he reports to Warnaco chief Tony Alvarez.
He became chief operating officer of Olga in 1982 and president of Warnaco’s retail group following Olga’s acquisition by Warnaco in 1984. He advanced to senior vice president and assistant to the chairman before being named executive vice president and cfo of Warnaco following its 1986 leveraged buyout by Linda Wachner and an investor group.
Warnaco declined to comment on reports of the appointment.
