BARBARA BUI 2000 SALES VAULT 52.4%
PARIS — Retail expansion produced rapid top-line growth last year for Barbara Bui.
The French fashion firm said Monday sales soared 52.4 percent in 2000, to $14.22 million, versus $9.3 million a year earlier. (Dollar figures are converted from the euro at current exchange rates.)
“Over the last two years we have invested heavily in building infrastructure and opening shops,” said William Halimi, chairman of the Paris-based firm. “The sales growth reflects this investment.”
Bui now operates 10 units — eight in Paris and one each in New York and Milan. The firm Tuesday will open a new store in Paris, on the Left Bank’s Rue des Saint Peres. Halimi said Bui plans to open locations in London and Germany this year, as well as adding another door in New York.
Shares of Barbara Bui, listed on the Paris Bourse in 1998, dropped 1.8 percent, to close Monday at $13.33.
