NEW YORK — Shoshanna Lonstein had a big day at Bloomingdale’s Saturday.
Lonstein, who visited the flagship here to launch her new swimwear collection, sold 225 units on Saturday.
Geared to the full-figured woman, the swimwear is sold as separates, with bottoms retailing from $35 to $50 and tops retailing from $45 to $60. According to sources, the swimwear generated about $12,000 during the day.
The bestseller was the cherry print bikini top and matching bottom, said Kal Ruttenstein, senior vice president of fashion direction at Bloomingdale’s. The number-one style top was a retro halter, in black, red, white and the cherry print. Tops are sized from A to double D.
“It all performed really well,” said Lonstein. “Girls said they could never wear it, and I said, ‘Go try it.’ We made bigger sizes and made it with support. I had to talk a lot of people into trying it.”
Ruttenstein said the store also brought Shoshanna’s dresses into the swimwear department for the day and sold 20 units.
