FASHION SHOW BENEFIT: Lower East Side designer Jill Anderson will hold a fashion show on March 8 to benefit the Lower East Side Girls Club in New York City.
The event will take place at Charas on East Ninth Street at 8 p.m. A $10 donation will be asked at the door for those attending, which will go toward building a clubhouse for the Girls Club at the Community Center on East Third Street.
KAHLUA CONTEST: The Kahlua brand is giving new talent a chance in the fashion arena.
On April 1, 18 U.S. designers will be chosen to design and create “one-of-a-kind clubwear fashion.” With each look being inspired by the design of the Kahlua bottle, the winning designs will be shown at the Kahlua Kollective Beats concert events to take place throughout the summer in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami and San Francisco.
Applications for the contest are now available at kahlua.com. The deadline for entries is March 1.
FGI AWARDS: The Fashion Group International’s Fourth Annual Rising Star Awards is set for Feb. 26 at the New York Hilton.
Created to recognize emerging talent in the fashion industry, this year’s keynote speaker will be Emme, host of E! Entertainment Television’s “Fashion Emergency” and creative director of The Emme Collection.
Award presenters and judges will be David Yurman, designer and chief executive officer of the eponymous jewelry company; designer Norma Kamali; makeup expert Pablo Manzoni; Donna Hanover; Clodagh, designer and ceo of Clodagh Design; men’s wear designer Jeffrey Banks, and Bob Chavez, president and ceo for Homes of Paris.
ANOTHER BRIDE: The second annual Couture Bridal Show has been set for April 29-May 2 at the Kitano New York Hotel, 66 Park Avenue in Manhattan.
Designed to bring resources into one central location during bridal market week, the event is organized by the GBH Group, who hosts the Mode & Mariage bridal trade show in France.
