CONFORAMA TAPS KAUFMANN
PARIS — Per Kaufmann, head of the Printemps department store chain for the past four years, has been named chief executive officer of home furnishings retailer Conforama.
He starts Feb. 26.
French retail conglomerate Pinault-Printemps-Redoute, parent of both chains, said Kaufmann would continue to chair management board meetings at Printemps until his successor is named. An announcement is expected in a few weeks, a PPR spokesman said.
PPR credited Kaufmann with improving margins at Printemps and helping boost the store’s image and customer service.
At Conforama, Kaufmann succeeds Jean-Claude Darrouzet, who has left the company. Kaufmann will be charged with expanding the chain abroad and bolstering its management team. Conforama operates 201 stores worldwide, including 25 outside of France. There are 35 Printemps locations.
