GIVENCHY SUCCESSOR UNDECIDED
PARIS — Givenchy has yet to anoint a couturier to succeed Alexander McQueen.
Despite widespread reports that a contract has been inked with Belgian Olivier Theyskens, sources said Monday LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton chief Bernard Arnault has yet to make a decision. Stella McCartney, currently at Chloe, is also considered a frontrunner.
Givenchy declined to comment on the situation.
McQueen’s contract officially expires in October. Last December, he sold 51 percent of his own London-based house to rival luxury group Gucci.
Earlier this month, Givenchy abruptly canceled McQueen’s haute couture runway presentation, intensifying speculation that his exit would be soon.
