NEW YORK — American Express chairman Harvey Golub has been elected to Warnaco’s board of directors, adding a ninth member and a venerable name to that body.
Golub served as chief executive of American Express from 1993 until last month and, under his leadership, its market capitalization grew to $73 billion. Warnaco ceo Linda Wachner said in a statement that Golub’s “strong background and success in all areas of business, as well as his expertise in corporate governance, will be of great benefit to Warnaco.”
Golub was president and ceo of IDS Financial Services, now American Express Financial Advisors, before joining American Express.
He praised Wachner’s “ability to effectively manage and grow a group of well-known brands” and “her strong, dedicated leadership.”
