NEW YORK — The Body Shop is getting a makeover.
The new look, to bow in New York Monday at a relocated store at 714 Lexington Avenue, will feature a floor plan that is 30 to 50 percent larger, a separate area for the company’s Colourings cosmetic line and lighter green interior decor.
Other changes include design elements like bamboo floorings, hemp backdrops and engineered lumber for wall shelving units and fixtures. A free-standing sink has been added to encourage product sampling.
According to David Bellamy, vice president of real estate and store design for The Body Shop, the new look is intended to “generate renewed interest in the brand.”
The new layout will be incorporated in 20 new stores as well as in 30 existing ones. The Lexington Avenue location is the sixth Body Shop location nationwide to receive the updated look.
The opening on Monday will be followed by celebratory events at the store the following Saturday and Sunday with free massages, makeovers, samples and a London-vacation sweepstakes.
