AMERICAN EAGLE CONFIRMS MTV WARDROBE VENTURE

NEW YORK — Road Rules 10 and American Eagle Outfitters said Monday that the specialty retailer will wardrobe the cast for the upcoming season, set to air June 2001, on MTV.
This confirms Friday’s report that a deal was close to being announced.
Road Rules is created and produced by Mary-Ellis Bunim and Jon Murray. The show, when it airs in June, will be in its 10th season. Road Rules is broadcast in over 70 million households and its Web site currently receives 25,000 hits a day.
Michael James Leedy, executive vice president of marketing and e-commerce at American Eagle, said in a statement, “Our alliance with Road Rules 10 further confirms AE’s position as the brand of choice for today’s teens and young adults.”
Chris Specht, director of business development at Bunim/Murray Productions, said, “We wanted this season’s cast to have more of an ‘individual’ look, and American Eagle Outfitters was a great match. Our cast members will be outfitted with a cool, hip look that perfectly suits the on-the-go lifestyle they’ll lead as they face each challenging mission.”
As reported, American Eagle is also the official clothing sponsor for “Dawson’s Creek.” It also has a deal with Dimension Films, the genre film division of Miramax, to be the wardrobe provider for four films.
