NEW YORK — Berndt Beetz, who recently left the helm of Parfums Christian Dior, is said to be joining Coty Inc. as chief executive officer, according to market reports circulating in both Paris and New York. Peter Harf will reportedly remain chairman of the firm.
As reported, Beetz resigned as president and ceo of Parfums Christian Dior after two years in the post. Prior to that, he worked at Procter & Gamble overseeing marketing in France and Germany, and directed P&G affiliates in Switzerland, Italy and Turkey.
According to the reports, Beetz was recruited, at least in part, to take the privately held Coty public.
Harf, who is currently chairman and ceo of Coty, has been with Joh. A. Benckiser GmbH, Coty’s parent, since 1981, serving in a variety of roles, including chairman, executive vice president of the consumer products division and vice chairman of the management board. Between 1990 and 1996, he oversaw the acquisition of several cosmetics businesses, including the European cosmetics business of Coty U.S. and SmithKline Beecham PLC.
Neither Beetz nor Harf could be reached for comment at press time Thursday.
