NEW YORK — Despite expectations that Revlon will name a celebrity spokesmodel to replace Cindy Crawford, the cosmetics giant may be tapping an up-and-comer instead.
According to industry sources, the new face of Revlon is likely to be brunette Rhea Durham whose resume includes fashion ads for Tommy Hilfiger and Christian Dior, among others.
A spokeswoman for Revlon declined to confirm the report, saying the company does not comment on rumors.
In a fall Tommy Hilfiger ad, Durham appeared with model Angela Lindvall, who was recently signed to represent Cover Girl. Last spring in a provocative Dior ad campaign, Durham was shown nuzzling and straddling Gisele Bundchen, whose beauty work includes Victoria’s Secret Beauty and Lanvin.
Last month Revlon announced the selection of Kirshenbaum, Bond and Partners as its new advertising agency replacing longtime in-house firm Tarlow.
Revlon executives have said the company plans to use its new model to help launch its Absolutely Fabulous lipstick, which will roll out in April. Ads supporting the lip color will appear in May books.
Names previously mentioned as possible choices include Liv Tyler, Sandra Bullock, Kate Moss, Kate Hudson, Amanda Peet and Monica Bellucci.
