NEW YORK — It used to be all about Christmas and Mother’s Day, but now manufacturers are now seeking to win the hearts of consumers on Valentine’s Day.
Ralph Lauren Fragrances is taking advantage of Ralph Lauren Romance’s positioning for the holiday. In conjunction with certain retailers, the company is offering love-inspired video, photo, engraving and calligraphy events at participating locations. In addition, customers who purchase two or more Ralph Lauren Romance or Romance Men products will receive a deluxe miniature set of women’s or men’s fragrance along with a silver tray.
British perfumer Jo Malone introduced her latest scent, Red Roses, this month. The fragrance, with notes of violet leaves, Bulgarian rose, cedarwood, sandalwood and tea roses, will be available in cologne, bath oil, and body lotion at the Jo Malone store in New York and at all Jo Malone U.S. counters including Bergdorf Goodman, select Neiman Marcus and Saks stores nationwide.
Avon Salon & Spa went back to the basics with chocolate truffles, albeit fat-free ones. The health-conscious gift idea was created by Gayle Reichler, who also created the Spa’s Active Wellness lifestyle program. The truffles are available in a quarter-pound box that retails for $16 and a half-pound box for $28. Each box comes with a hangtag that gives 20 percent off the next retail purchase.
