LANE BRYANT’S BIG BASH
Byline: Karyn Monget
NEW YORK — Lane Bryant’s largess — replete with oiled muscle men in string bikinis dancing in the rafters — underscored the buoyant mood of the specialty retailer’s fashion show of plus-size lingerie and ready-to-wear at Manhattan’s Studio 54.
The event was highlighted by two divas from two distinctly different worlds: Anna Nicole Smith, who shimmied and jiggled her generous cleavage on the runway, and the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, who wowed the stand-up crowd with oldies but goodies.
Some 300 guests turned out to see scores of fashion lingerie items that could well have been merchandised for average figures.
Top ideas included:
Printed sheer bras and panties — many of which were meant to be seen underneath open blouses
Lustrous satin undergarments.
A bevy of pretty, seductive chemises.
Active-inspired crop tops that were worn with novelty sequin-appliqued jeans.
