HIRSCHBERG NAMED PRESIDENT OF GLOSS.COM

NEW YORK — Gloss.com got a new president Thursday: Peter Hirshberg.
According to William Lauder, president of Clinique and a member of the Gloss.com board, Hirshberg was instrumental in developing AboutFace, Clinique’s first foray onto the Internet.
“We are thrilled to have Peter on board as part of the Gloss.com team,” said Lauder in a statement. “His forward-thinking ability, deep understanding of the Internet and strong sense of marketing will be valuable assets to Gloss.com.” The Web site, co-owned by The Estee Lauder Cos. Inc., Chanel and Groupe Clarins USA, was originally scheduled to bow in May; it is now slated for a fall launch.
Most recently, Hirshberg’s new-media strategy firm developed marketing strategies for brands like America Online, Microsoft and Pacific Bell. He was also founder and chief executive officer of Elemental Software.
During a nine-year tenure at Apple Computer, Hirshberg served as director of enterprise markets, growing Apple’s business and government revenue to $1 billion annually.
