Isaac Mizrahi is back at the drafting table. The designer-turned-entertainer — who’s about to costar in an ABC sitcom called “Brooklyn” (he’ll play the head of p.r. for a New York book publishing company and the proverbial gay best friend of the show’s star, Maria Bello) — has been dragged out of semi-retirement, at least for one dress. Sarah Jessica Parker convinced him to whip something up for her when Matthew Broderick’s “The Producers” premieres on Broadway on April 19. “I called him and said I wanted a dress,” said Parker, “and he said he wanted me to be on his show. We’ll see about that — but he is making me a white cocktail dress with black lace embellishment. I’m so happy because I’ve really missed being able to get his clothes.”
Rumor has it that the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Lifetime Achievement Award is headed to none other than Calvin Klein this year. While the designer has nabbed several awards for women’s and men’s wear designer of the year from the CFDA, he has yet to take home a Lifetime Achievement honor. CFDA wouldn’t comment, but the board is set to announce this year’s nominees today.
