PARIS — In bolstering the fine jewelry department of his auction house, Bernard Arnault has poached two Sotheby’s veterans for Phillips, de Pury & Luxembourg.
Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia, previously senior vice president at Sotheby’s, and Tom Burstein, an international jewelry specialist, have been named directors of Phillips’s international jewelry department.
Burstein has overseen major sales of the jewelry collections of the Duchess of Windsor, Mona Bismarck, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Jocelyne Wildenstein.
Phillips, which is currently owned by LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, also made headlines last week with the announcement of a major sale of Van Gogh and Cezanne masterpieces.
