We are looking forward to a really good show, because we have a terrific showcase of brands,” said Carol Bigman, show organizer of the Intimate Apparel Salon. “We’ve brought in a number of new European and American resources that have never before been exhibited at the salon.”
The three-day lingerie show, which closes March 6, will showcase 34 new exhibitors: 21 of which are European foundations, sleepwear, at-homewear and legwear brands; and 13 American vendors of foundations, sleepwear, robes and accessories.
In all, 229 brands will be shown on the fifth, seventh and eighth floors of The Broadway Millennium Hotel in Manhattan. Last March featured 200 exhibitors.
“I think March will be a very important business venue mainly because everything is such a global economy now,” said Bigman. “I think of the Paris in January as kicking off the trends and excitement for lingerie, and then New York is a good business follow-up.”
Bigman further noted that approximately 800 buyers have preregistered.
“We’ve been progressively drawing a larger number of merchants from a larger radius,” she said. “Many of the calls have been coming from California. New York is the entry point for brands that want exposure and want to become established. Then, down the road, they can focus on regional markets like Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta and California.”
