AVON PROMOTES KROPF
NEW YORK — Susan J. Kropf has been named president and chief operating officer of Avon Products, Inc.
As president, she succeeds Andrea Jung, who continues as chief executive officer.
Avon previously had two chief operating officers: Kropf, who was executive vice president and chief operating officer, North America and Global Business Operations, and Jose Ferreira, Jr., executive vice president and chief operating officer, International and New Business, who has decided to leave the company to pursue new opportunities, effective Jan. 31.
Kropf, 52, will now be responsible for all of Avon’s worldwide direct selling operations. The posts held by Kropf and Ferreira won’t be filled. The heads of Avon’s four international regions, who previously reported to Ferreira, will now report to Kropf. Kropf continues as a director of the company and continues to report to Jung.
Stanley Gold continues as chairman.
Prior to being named head of North America operations in 1998, Kropf was president, Avon U.S., the company’s largest operation. Earlier she was president, New and Emerging Markets, where she directed Avon’s rapid expansion in Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, China and South Africa.
