CEW GOES INTERACTIVE

NEW YORK — For its seventh annual product exhibition, Cosmetics Executive Women has decided to try something a little different: letting members try the products they’re voting on.
The event, which will be held Jan. 30 at the Time & Life Building, 1271 Avenue of the Americas, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., is open to both CEW members and nonmembers, although only CEW’s 1,300 members will be allowed to vote. Members will vote on 269 products that have been entered in 16 categories. The brands include both prestige and mass-market cosmetics, hair products, skin care items and fragrances.
“The demonstrations will allow our members to evaluate products before voting on them,” explained Carlotta Jacobson, president of CEW. “They will also give the public a rare opportunity to personally check out the best the beauty industry has to offer.” Winners will be announced at CEW’s Beauty Awards luncheon at the Waldorf-Astoria on March 21.
To raise money for its new Web site benefiting cancer patients, cancerandcareers.org, CEW will also sell $15 Beauty Rules! T-shirts at the event and on its organizational Web site, cew.org.
