BOUCHERON, BEAUTE IN YSL MERGER
MILAN — Combine-and-conquer is the latest strategy at YSL Beaute.
Gucci Group, owner of the Yves Saint Laurent brand, confirmed reports Tuesday that it was merging its YSL Beaute and Boucheron fragrance divisions in the U.S., under the newly created YSL Beaute Inc.
While a Gucci spokesman declined further comment, a well-placed industry source here said the YSL and Boucheron divisions would each have a vice president of sales and their own sales teams. The source said the move was aimed at creating a “more effective organization” in the U.S.
The YSL division will focus exclusively on that brand, and the Boucheron division will oversee sales of Boucheron, Oscar de la Renta, Fendi, Paul Smith, Sonia Rykiel and Christian Lacroix, the source added. The deal is effective Feb. 1.
