NEW YORK — Gail Vasquez has been named director of corporate licensing for Tommy Bahama, a manufacturer and retailer of better sportswear, swimwear, footwear, accessories and home furnishings.
She will report to Tony Margolis, president and co-owner of the company.
In this newly created post, Vasquez will establish a New York-based licensing department that will oversee the growing number of companies producing Tommy Bahama licensed products. Margolis said that the company expects to do $100 million in retail volume this year in its licensing division.
“It was crucial to us that, as we continued to grow our brand, we make sure that [the licensees] were coming to market with the same vision that we had,” said Margolis. “Gail has taken a load of work and a load of fear off my back. Her expertise has instantly added a level of thoroughness and professionalism that we needed in our licensing efforts.”
Most recently, Vasquez was the director of licensing for Bugle Boy Industries, prior to which she was senior vice president of licensing for Leon Max. Before that, she was director of licensing for L.A. Gear. She has also held executive posts at Federated Department Stores.
