LONDON — Polo Ralph Lauren said it has named James B. Hardy Jr. as senior vice president of its flagships.
In his new role, Hardy oversees all retail operations for the Polo Ralph Lauren flagships in New York, London, Paris, Beverly Hills and Chicago as well as the East Hampton Country Store. He is now based in New York and reports to Charles Fagan, executive vice president of the Polo Retail Corp.
Hardy was vice president and managing director of Polo’s European flagships. He had been stationed in London for 15 years, initially overseeing Polo’s 3,000-square-foot New Bond Street store and, from May 1999, the company’s 24,000-square-foot European flagship on New Bond Street, the children’s wear store that replaced the previous unit and the Polo store in Paris.
Prior to that, he was merchandising manager involved in the opening of Polo’s first New York flagship at 867 Madison Avenue.
Helen Young, who was senior director of sales and merchandising for the Polo Ralph Lauren European flagships, has been named to succeed Hardy as vice president of European retail, the company said. In her new role, she oversees all operations of the Polo Ralph Lauren retail business in Europe including sales, merchandising, branding and staff. She will work from London and report to Lance Isham, Polo’s vice chairman, who recently relocated here.
