SIMPLE PLEASURES
NEW YORK — Cool, calm and collected. That’s what the resort season is all about. And in their first collaborative effort, Bill Blass designers Lars Nilsson and Herve Pierre prove they’re following that mantra with lots of breezy pants, blouses and lightweight jackets punctuated by a few bold prints. “It’s all about easy pieces that can mix,” Nilsson says of the collection, which combines navy, white and stone pieces with coral and lime green. Of course, in the great Blass tradition there’s a bit of men’s wear inspiration that shows up in an oversized paisley print borrowed from traditional necktie patterns.
Though they’re known for elaborate looks, Mark Badgley and James Mischka have managed to give a light and airy look to evening. The duo moves from clean black and white for crisp tops and trumpet skirts to turquoise-toned beading and sexy lattice work on body-baring dresses.
At Yeohlee, designer Yeohlee Teng goes the relaxed route with a no-fuss lineup of HotPants, patterned miniskirts, classic tank dresses and trim tuxedo pants.
