WHAT’S IN IN SWIM
“Americans don’t buy a pareo without matching it to their suit,” proclaimed Maryline Reymond, vice president of Guilheim Enterprises.
With this in mind, what misses’ swimwear looks are resortwear manufacturers trying to match?
Lots of clear color and rich embellishment, said swimwear manufacturers.
Cherry red and periwinkle blue are top swimwear colors, noted Ronnie Nathan, an independent sales representative who handles four swim lines for Longwood, Fla.-based Ultimate Swimwear.
Nathan said Ultimate Swimwear’s Delta Burke line will be going forward with the kind of glammy vibe of Ms. Burke herself: sequins, rhinestones and beading. He said the line is also doing well with animal prints and ombre.
Janet Wittenberg, president of Sizzle Beach, a division of Los Angeles-based California Waves, said she feels strongly about dip-dyes, gold-toned animals prints and belly-belts for contemporary swim customers.
