INTIMATE NOTES
WOMEN OF HEART: It was a sellout at the second annual Women of Heart luncheon last month at New York’s Pierre Hotel. Sponsored by The American Heart Association and Woman’s Day magazine, a number of the 400 guests hailed from the fashion and textile industries, including the Natori Co., Liz Claiborne Co., the Playtex Apparel unit of Sara Lee Intimate Apparel, August Silk, the French Jenny division of Richard Leeds International, and DuPont.
Recipients of the Woman of Heart Award were Libby Pataki, Carolina Herrera and Judith Jamison.
Among those who contributed to the success of the silent auction were Natori, Fernando Sanchez, Priamo, Love Letters, August Silk and Bloomingdale’s. Sara Lee contributed 400 seamless Barely There briefs and Intimate Brands donated 400 Soothing Eye Gels from its Bath & Body division for the goody bags. Jill Weiner donated 400 triple-tiered heart pins.
The event is staged to bring greater awareness of heart disease in women, a disease that’s been labeled the number-one killing disease among women. Over $175,000 was raised at the luncheon for research.
