PARIS — A major retrospective of John Galliano’s designs for Christian Dior has been delayed, becoming the latest fashion extravaganza to be postponed since Sept. 11.
“John Galliano at Dior” had been slated to open at the Design Museum in London on Nov. 30 and run through April 28, 2002. It was to feature more than 70 ensembles, from couture and ready-to-wear collections, as well as film, video and TV footage. Galliano joined the LVMH-owned house in 1996 and has been credited with giving it new pep.
Dior said its decision to delay the exhibition was prompted by current “international instability.” Dior did not say when the show would be rescheduled.
Meanwhile, in its place, Dior said it would sponsor an exhibition on Web design, called “Web Wizards.”
