TRENDCAST
NEW YORK — While vendors are in agreement that basics just won’t cut it in the jeans market this fall, there is little consensus on any particular trend that will drive business.
Rather, companies are rolling out a wide variety of looks aimed at finding enough to inspire anxious consumers to buy.
Here’s a few of the trends that vendors will be pursuing:
Low-rise styles are expected to remain in demand across all segments of the women’s market, though individual shoppers’ ideas of how low to go varies.
Lighter-weight denim fabrics, which allow for a drapier look, also are seen as remaining strong, as are denims with stretch properties.
Packaging jeans with belts remains popular in the junior market as a fashion and value component. Shoppers like the thought of getting a little something extra for free.
Interesting washes and treatments, including graffiti prints, creative sandblastings and coatings, remain an important fashion element.
