DONEGER BUYS CAROL HOFFMAN
NEW YORK — The Doneger Group has purchased the Carol Hoffman Buying Office, which serves about 60 stores specializing in contemporary, better, bridge and designer merchandise and provides highly personalized service.
Doneger has grown significantly over the past two decades by acquiring many buying offices and assimilating them into his divisions. However, Abbey Doneger, president, said that since Hoffman has a strong reputation and high-end image, she and her team will continue to operate from their offices at 110 West 40th Street, and under the name Carol Hoffman Buying Office, as a separate division of The Doneger Group.
“This is an exciting opportunity for The Doneger Group to significantly enhance our position in the better specialty business,” said Doneger.
The Doneger Fashion Merchandising and Henry Doneger Associates divisions will continue to provide market coverage to retailers in the contemporary, better, bridge and designer markets, including Nordstrom, Jacobson’s and Miss Jackson in Tulsa. Hoffman’s clients are primarily smaller retailers, such as Ruth Meyers in Oklahoma City and Barbara Katz in Boca Raton, Fla.
