NEW YORK — Liz Claiborne Inc. has appointed Helen McCluskey as president of its Special Markets group, and Trudy Sullivan as group president overseeing Casual, Collection and Elisabeth.
The announcement on Monday confirms a report in WWD last Thursday. Both positions take effect Aug. 1 and the two executives will report to Paul R. Charron, chairman and chief executive officer.
McCluskey comes to Claiborne from Sara Lee Corp., where she was president of Playtex Apparel. Sullivan is the former president of the J.Crew Group. The New York-based executive search firms Kirk Palmer Associates and E.A. Hughes & Co. assisted in the searches.
Commenting on the announcements, Charron said in a statement that McCluskey’s experience in marketing and distribution will play a key role as the company grows its Special Markets division. Of Sullivan, Charron said: “With her strong business sense and insight into consumer behavior, we are confident that her strengths will be invaluable as we further grow the Liz Claiborne and Elisabeth businesses.”
Liz Claiborne’s brands also include its signature sportswear, Curve, Dana Buchman, Laundry by Shelli Segal, Liz Claiborne, Mexx and Sigrid Olsen, as well as licensed lines under the DKNY and Kenneth Cole labels.
