NEW YORK — Spare and unfettered — that’s how many designers see resort. “I wanted my line to be crisp and graphic,” says Narciso Rodriguez, who showed a dress-based collection with strong patterns and asymmetric lines in black, gray and off-white.
Richard Tyler went the way of the vagabond girl with peasant skirts, cutaway jackets and plunging necklines, mostly in black but with a pale pink or blue thrown in for effect. “It’s bohemian, but lighter and sexier,” he explains. “A young gypsy going for a stroll.” Thierry Mugler, meanwhile, opted for light khakis and creams for sexy bustiers, soft dresses and slim pants.
