SEUSS SAID HEADED TO MCCARTNEY
PARIS — Stella McCartney and Gucci Group aren’t wasting any time. Now that the two have solidified their business relationship, they are moving swiftly to assemble the executive team for their new venture.
According to market sources, James Seuss is about to be named chief executive officer of the Stella McCartney business. Seuss is currently managing director of Tiffany London, overseeing Tiffany’s Old Bond Street store and its boutique in Harrods. He has been with the firm since 1989.
An announcement is expected as early as today. Gucci and Tiffany officials had no comment Friday.
As reported, after months of courtship McCartney recently left the top design post at the Paris-based house of Chloe to launch her own fashion house in a 50-50 joint venture with Gucci Group, which has been aggressively building its stable of businesses. The new business will be based in Milan.
McCartney is creative director of the new company, which Gucci plans to build into a global luxury brand focused on women’s ready-to-wear and accessories.
