PARIS — James Seuss has been named chief executive officer of the Stella McCartney label, confirming reports in these columns Monday.
Seuss, 37, starts at the new house, a joint venture between the designer and Gucci Group, on May 21. For the past four years, he has been managing director of Tiffany & Co. in the U.K. He has been with the company 12 years and has experience in running retail and wholesale operations for the luxury jeweler in Asia and Europe.
Seuss’s last day at Tiffany’s is May 18. His successor has yet to be named.
“The Gucci Group is pleased to welcome James on board,” Domenico De Sole, president and chief executive officer of Gucci Group, said in a statement. “He has tremendous experience in the industry and we look forward to working on the Stella McCartney label with him.”
As reported, Gucci Group plans to build Stella McCartney into a global luxury brand focused on women’s ready-to-wear and accessories. However, the partners have yet to disclose key details about the business, including where it will be based and when and where the first collection will be shown.
