SEYMOUR EXITING HUGO BOSS
METZINGEN, Germany — Grit Seymour, the designer who helped launch the Boss Hugo Boss women’s collection, is leaving the company.
An official announcement is expected today. The company said Caterina Salvador, who is currently the line’s product manager, has been named head of the design team, reporting to Lothar Reiff, creative director of the Boss collections, and Werner Baldessarini, chairman of Hugo Boss AG and chief designer.
Seymour could not be reached for comment.
Formerly a designer at Daniel Hechter, Donna Karan and Max Mara, Seymour had brought a high-minded, minimalist aesthetic to the German firm, which she joined in September 1999. She staged two major runway shows in Milan, the most recent one last March.
Sources said the company intends to take a more low-key, commercial direction with its design team as it rolls out the women’s line to more international markets.
Seymour’s departure comes four months after Massimo Suppancig, chief executive of Boss’s Milan-based women’s division, resigned. Suppancig had built the firm from the ground up and had hired Seymour.
