“Boy, this would make my mom proud!” joked Cameron Diaz after edging out ‘N Sync’s Justin Timberlake and the ladies of Destiny’s Child to win the first annual “Belch Off” at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards.
Last week, Hollywood welcomed back the blonde who’d been absent from the premiere and awards-show circuits while filming Martin Scorsese’s “Gangs of New York” in Venice.
Still sporting her hair extensions from the period film, Diaz also hit the premiere of the animated fantasy film “Shrek,” along with Eddie Murphy and Selma Blair. In the film, Diaz supplies the voice and the model for Princess Fiona’s rubber-faced expressions and “Charlie’s Angels” high-kicks.
“The voice is one thing, but when somebody who doesn’t look like you is using your body language, it’s even stranger,” marveled Diaz. “I’ve only seen the film once and I haven’t gotten past the ‘Who’s that chick acting like me?’ part.”
Meanwhile, in Pasadena, J.Lo, who just added “fashion designer” to her list of professions, picked up the Entertainer of the Year award at the American Latino Media Arts Gala.
“God, I’m so emotional,” she said as she wiped the tears from her face. “I love what I do so much that I’d do it for free. For real!”
On Tuesday night, Julia Ormond resurfaced at the premiere of her new film, “The Prime Gig,” at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival.
“I’m sorry if I’m slurring,” apologized the normally articulate Ormond. “I had some work done on my teeth today and half my mouth is frozen.”
