Where she shops: “I really shop L.A., mainly in the New Mart because there are so many new designers that probably don’t have the backing they need, but always ship on time. I pretty much go to the New Mart now because the people in the old mart show here in Dallas. I have a few resources in Dallas I always go to, mainly because I love their showrooms. And I love the lines, too, or I wouldn’t buy them.”

Secret finds at the International Apparel Mart in Dallas: “Bishop Koch handbags in Gavin’s showroom are awesome. I also found a great lingerie line for Christmas presents. It’s called Loungerie, and the showroom is called Subtle Tones and Loungerie. It’s the shabby chic for pajamas. They carry boxer shorts with little camisoles that come over the top. What’s so cute is how they package them in little envelope bags..”

Tried-and-true lines: “Jenne Maag and Equestrian Designs. Blue Dot does incredible in here, and so does Three Dots.”

Current bestsellers: “On Gossamer mesh thong underwear and Velvet T-shirts.”

Favorite showrooms: “I love Susan Collier, Pamela Martin, Linde Honeycutt and Navia-Plott. Catrinka also has a great showroom…they show really different lines.”

Biggest challenge at the Mart: “Finding my way around is my biggest challenge, and I’ve been doing it for 12 years, so you’d think I’d figure it out, but I can’t. Another big challenge is finding things that not everybody else in Dallas carries. It doesn’t matter how much something costs in here, as long as it’s unique.”

October market agenda: “I’ve already bought resort. And what’s great for resort is navy and cream. Everybody looks good in navy. It’s not as harsh in black. That whole sailor look is really in. That will start coming in around Thanksgiving. I do sell resort early for Christmas presents, because people want something different. My goal is not to buy too deep, but always constantly have new things coming in so it’s always fresh.
“In October, I will be buying for early spring. My October Dallas market purchases will start coming in the middle of January.”
