NEW YORK — James Fallon, who has served as London bureau chief for Fairchild Publications for two decades, has been named editor of Women’s Wear Daily.
Fallon takes his new post Oct. 29 and reports to Ed Nardoza, who remains editor in chief of WWD and associate editorial director of Fairchild’s business-to-business publications.
“Jim has been an invaluable asset and an integral part of our news organization,” said Patrick McCarthy, chairman and editorial director. “He can write with equal ease a financial report or a profile of a Hollywood star. He’ll broaden the scope and international perspective of the paper.”
Fallon joined Fairchild News Service as news editor in the Washington, D.C., bureau in 1979. In 1981, he was appointed Fairchild’s London bureau chief.
“Given the depth and variety of his experience,” said Nardoza, “there’s no doubt he’ll bring continued innovation to WWD’s spirited newsgathering efforts.”
During his time in London, Fallon has written prolifically for WWD, W, DNR, Footwear News, Supermarket News, HFN and Executive Technology.
