MILAN — Gucci Group is bolstering the design and creative teams of its Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent divisions, and, as reported in these columns, Matthias Vriens, Milan Vukmirovic and Stefano Pilati are among the new talent.
Gucci said in a statement Friday that group creative director Tom Ford has named Vriens senior art director and Vukmirovic design director for the Group. Both men, the statement said, have been freelancing for Ford since the start of the year.
Ford has named Pilati, who until now has worked on the Miu Miu collections at Prada, women’s design director for Yves Saint Laurent ready-to-wear.
Vriens, formerly the creative director and editor in chief of Dutch magazine, worked briefly at Giorgio Armani SpA before joining Gucci.
He will work with Ford on ad campaigns and visual images for Gucci, YSL and Sergio Rossi.
Vukmirovic, who was creative director and head buyer for the Colette boutique in Paris, will work with Ford on the creation and supervision of design teams within the group.
As reported, Ford will be chief designer of the YSL rtw collection and creative director of the house of YSL, and maintains his role as creative director and chief designer of Gucci Group.
