ABS DAYWEAR, SLEEPWEAR DUE TO LAUNCH AT MARKET
NEW YORK — ABS By Allen Schwartz, a unit of The Warnaco Group, will be introducing a line of daywear and sleepwear at next week’s innerwear market here.
Megan Freedman, vice president of sales and merchandising for day dresses and innerwear at ABS, projected first-year sales of $3 million to $8 million wholesale. Prices haven’t been finalized, but suggested retail should start around $26 and go to $62, she said.
Distribution for fall selling is aimed at major department and specialty stores, and specialty boutiques, as well as ABS’s seven freestanding stores.
“The collection has already been previewed and the reaction has been terrific,” said Freedman. “The collection is aimed at the consumer who has champagne tastes, but is on a beer, pocket-change budget.”
She noted that the innerwear collection will have the “sportswear twist” that should appeal to the contemporary fashion customer. Styles will include pajama sets, capri pants and a variety of tops, robes, camis and thongs, and “lots of little nighties.”
Fabrics will include printed mesh, blends of rayon and Lycra spandex, brushed flannels, and knit and woven cottons. Colors will include bright shades of pink, aqua and red. There also will be leopard and python prints.
