LEWIS IN, CHANG OUT AT BAZAAR
NEW YORK — Cynthia Lewis has been named vice president and publisher of the U.S. edition of Harper’s Bazaar.
Lewis, who was vice president and publisher of Marie Claire, succeeds Jeannette Chang, who was named senior vice president and international publishing director of Hearst Magazines International, a new post.
Lewis was the founding associate publisher of Marie Claire, a joint venture between Hearst and Marie Claire Album, when it was launched in 1994. She was named vice president and publisher of Marie Claire in 1997. Lewis joined Hearst in 1990 as cosmetics and fragrance manager for Town and Country Her successor will be named shortly.
Chang, who reports to George Green, president of Hearst Magazines International, will contribute to the international business for 11 international editions of Harper’s Bazaar, as well as new launches of Cosmopolitan, Cosmogirl! and Bazaar.
Prior to becoming vice president and publisher of the American edition of Bazaar in 1994, Chang was associate publisher for 10 years and director of fashion marketing since 1979.
