RETAILER SPOTLIGHT

Byline: Rebecca Kleinman

Paige Heid, manager and buyer for Bop, Madison, Wis.
Where she shops: “New York. This was our first year at Coterie. And Chicago, because it’s so easy. We use the Deerfield shows, held near Chicago two times a year, to fill in lines.”
Secret finds at the Apparel Center: “Mavi jeans. We’re the only ones in the area who carry them. We keep a wall stocked, but we can’t keep them in.”
Tried-and-true lines: “Juicy, Polo, Weston Wear, Miss Sixty, Groggy, Blue Marlin. For dresses, Fleure de Peche. For sweaters, Easel, Roxy, Jane Doe and Polo.”
Current bestsellers: “Color, beaded or crystal bracelets, Mavi flared jeans, three-quarter sleeves, deep V-necks, scoopnecks, camis, cashmere from Sweet Romeo, below-the-knee skirts, subtle embellishment, Z. Cavaricci drawstring pants in army green with hem detail, Mavi stretch capris with side slits or cropped with folded cuffs.”
Favorite showrooms: “Statements and Helen Newman.”
Biggest challenge at the Center: “None, really. The store’s owner, Bob Lamey, loves it. He finds it very effective.”
March market agenda: “Write fall. I’ll have to see about Coterie first, though. Holiday isn’t so big here, because all the students leave for winter break. That’s our catch-up time. Mostly, we’ll work on our Web site, shopbop.com, this spring.”
