DALLAS — Sharen Jester Turney, president and chief executive officer of NM Direct, the $322 million direct marketing division of the Neiman Marcus Group, has taken on the additional responsibility of overseeing Neiman Marcus Online.
Neiman Marcus Online is a unit of NM Direct, and its sales results are not broken out separately. Previously, Neiman’s Internet business was managed by a committee of executives from the stores and direct marketing divisions.
Turney joined NM Direct in 1997 as executive vice president. Last March, she was named to her current position.
NM Online includes NeimanMarcus.com, Chefscatalog.com and Horchow.com, which is expected to be up and running around August. The web site will feature the Horchow catalog’s home furnishings and fashion offerings. The e-commerce group has 20 employees based in NM Direct’s offices in Irving, Tex., a suburb of Dallas, but Turney expects to hire 50 more people within six months.
Turney, 43, continues to report to Burt Tansky, president and chief operating officer of Neiman Marcus Group. Gayle Dvorak Tremblay continues as vice president of merchandising for NeimanMarcus.com and reports to Turney.
NeimanMarcus.com went online last October and offers 2000 items, including accessories, shoes, apparel and gifts. The site will be revamped in May with more products and the addition of editorial content, such as trend reports.
“You will see substantial growth in terms of product categories by May, and in September, as we enter fall, you’ll see another quantum leap forward,” Turney noted.
