THE SLEEK LIFE
Byline: Carmen Borgonovo
NEW YORK — Accessories are hotter than ever for fall, so it’s just the right moment for Giorgio Armani to expand his collection of them. “The emphasis is on luxury materials with clean, sophisticated shapes,” he says. “My focus was to create a range of accessories for the Armani woman that will complement her clothes.”
What’s new? Handbags in exotic skins such as python, lizard and alligator, in shades like fuchsia and pale blues and terrific patent leather numbers in burgundy, brown and black. The key shapes include elongated clutches, ladylike top-handle looks and small structured ones. For evening, multicolored beaded bags are plentiful.
On the shoe front, there are super-sexy sandals in patent leather, satin, suede and lizard; feminine kitten-heel shoes in lizard and calfskin; sophisticated snakeskin pumps, and midcalf boots or racy, knee-high stiletto boots in suede.
The collection also includes belts and small leather goods and will be available in July at all Giorgio Armani boutiques nationwide. Wholesale prices for small leather goods range from $30 to $164; belts, $80 to $250; shoes $120 to $351, and handbags, $139 to $2.289.
