GREAT SCOTT? NOT! As the saying goes, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Whoever thought that one up, however, never had the pleasure of giving a stripped-down Jeremy Scott the once-over. In what must be one of the most bizarre LVMH promotions ever, for Boo.com or any of the luxury giant’s subsidiaries, those attending Scott’s fall show in Paris on Friday found a Boo.com-emblazoned shoebox on their seats with a muscle T-shirt inside that depicts Scott, posing with his arms behind his head, like early Madonna, as bare as the day he was born.
The garish image of Scott, torso exposed to a dangerously low point, appears to have been copied from a portrait of the designer that ran in the March issue of Italian Vogue and is closer to crude R. Crumb than to haute couture. While at most shows, a gift bag might contain a signature scent or a little lipstick, and a Boo.com shoebox might contain a pair of sneakers, one never knows what to expect from the mullet-headed Mr. Scott.
