CANDIE’S BAG: As part of its ongoing efforts to restructure the Candie’s brand, Candies, Inc. has signed a three-and-a half-year licensing agreement with Trebbiano LLC to produce its handbag and small leather goods collections.
Since the fall 1998 launch of the handbag line, it’s been produced and sold in-house. Trebbiano will take over design, sourcing and distribution for both the Candie’s and Bongo labels.
Trebbiano produces and markets handbags under the Frankie and Johnnie and Hush Puppies labels.
THE MTV BEAT: Even music industry giant MTV is jumping on the accessories bandwagon. The company has licensed TeenShop, a division of Buy-Rite Costume Jewelry, to develop a line of jewelry and hair accessories bearing the MTV brand.
Four music-influenced design categories define the line: rock, punk, folk and the fusion of rock and punk. Among the products to be offered are necklaces, bracelets, rings, arm cuffs and hair accessories. The unisex collection will be available in department and specialty stores such as Hot Topic starting May 1, and will retail from $5.99 to $12.99.
