NEW YORK — Veteran fashion director Ellin Saltzman has landed another high-profile fashion gig. She’s been named fashion consultant for QVC and charged with delivering a “a consistent, forward-thinking fashion image for QVC’s fashion categories,” the company said Monday.
QVC, based in West Chester, Pa., posted $2.8 billion in sales last year.
Saltzman will work with QVC’s merchandising directors and buyers to bring new fashion concepts and design talent to the cable TV retailer. She said she will work on getting designer exclusives and getting designers to appear on QVC.
The highly respected fashion director has over 30 years expertise in forecasting, identifying and promoting seasonal fashion trends in both the American and European markets. She’s worked at Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, The Limited and Macy’s.
Saltzman also served as an independent fashion consultant and associate fashion editor for Glamour magazine. She is currently a member of the board of directors for, the online off-price fashion site.
“This opportunity with QVC is very exciting and it’s totally different from anything I’ve ever done,” said Saltzman. “It allows me to extend my background in fashion and style into the e-commerce arena, which, from a fashion standpoint, is certainly the new frontier.”
QVC sells licensed products, fashion, beauty, electronics and fine jewelry through its cable TV home shopping channel and its Internet Web site. The core QVC channel reaches over 73 million homes, according to the company.
