BABY TOGS INKS PACT WITH CLAIBORNE, APPOINTS ZACHARY SOLOMON CEO
NEW YORK — Liz Claiborne Inc. has expanded its realm and signed an agreement with Baby Togs Inc. to license children’s apparel under the Liz Claiborne name. And Zachary L. Solomon, an industry veteran, has joined Baby Togs as chief executive officer.
Solomon will oversee all aspects of Baby Togs, which includes BT Kids, Baby Togs and the new Liz Claiborne Kids division.
In a related move, Sharon Wax has been named president of the Liz Claiborne Kids division. She has spent the last 15 years at Associated Merchandising Corp., where she rose to senior vice president. Wax will oversee design, merchandising, production and sales, and reports to Solomon.
The children’s apparel line will include boys’ and girls’ layettes and layette sets; newborns’; infants’; toddler boys’, girls’ 4 to 6x, and related accessories. The collections will debut to the trade in January 2001.
Most recently, Solomon served as president and ceo of Adrienne Vittadini. Prior to that, he was president and ceo of Associated Merchandising Corp., and before that president of Ellen Tracy. He had also served as executive vice president of Manhattan Industries and president and ceo of its Perry Ellis division. Earlier in his career, Solomon was vice chairman of May Co.
Solomon reports to Baby Togs’ board of directors.
