NEW YORK — Former executive Michael Skidmore has joined shopping portal as executive vice president of global markets.
Based in San Francisco and New York, plans to offer shopping tools and direct marketing to help Internet fashion concerns increase their online sales and enhance their shopping experience.
Skidmore said his role would be a liaison with vendors and retailers for the portal, which is slated to go live in August. He will be based here.
“We’re initially targeting a handful of designers and retailers whose esthetic and commitment to e-commerce will permit them to take full advantage of the technology we have to offer,” he said, describing the site, still under development, as a “a vehicle for companies to enhance their image and consumer awareness.”
As reported, Skidmore exited in January. His title there was vice president and director of global merchandising. Before that, Skidmore was a merchandise executive at Barneys New York for 24 years and helped the retailer expand its men’s business from suits into sportswear and outerwear.
