SALOMON RACES TO U.S.: For the first time, Salomon is holding one of the races in its X-Adventure series in the U.S.
The two-day race will be part of a three-day event that gets under way in Aspen, Col., on July 21. Four-member teams will compete in trekking, mountain bike racing, flat and white water paddling, ropes, orienteering, inline skating and possibly horseback riding, a Salomon spokeswoman said.
Salomon decided to hold a race in the U.S. since adventure racing — a sport that started in Europe — has become more popular in other countries, said Barry Siff, co-owner of Mountain Quest Adventures, the Fort Collins, Colo.-based company that is organizing the event. The Salomon race series runs throughout Europe, Japan and Scandinavia.
