NORDSTROM TAPS EXECS FOR HALOGEN

NEW YORK — Staffing up to build its new Halogen private label, Nordstrom last week named Bernhard Guessregen senior design director and Marcus Brown women’s design director for the contemporary collection. The positions are both new.
Guessregen will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategic vision for all products under the Halogen brand. He was instrumental in starting the Theory collection at Tahari and has been a freelance designer and worked with BCBG men’s collection last fall. He has also worked at Ungaro, Romeo Gigli, and Sears, Roebuck, for the chain’s Apostrophe line.
Brown was with Esprit for about 10 years, most recently as vice president of design, developing junior and kids’ lines.
Halogen was launched exclusively at Nordstrom stores this spring, reflecting the specialty chain’s efforts to become hipper and more relevant to a broader range of customers.
